Bipolar Treatment & Suboxone Treatment

Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric mood disorder that involves episodes of "mania" and "depression". Symptoms can vary but need to include several of the following. Additionally, the symptoms would cause significant impairment in functioning. There are good bipolar treatments available which can help people lead normal and productive lives.

Symptoms of mania include, a distinct period of:

  • Elevated, expansive or irritable mood
  • Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
  • Decreased need for sleep (feeling resting after only a couple hours)
  • More talkative than usual or pressure to keep talking
  • Flight of ideas/ racing thoughts
  • Distractibility
  • Increase in goal-directed activity
  • Indiscriminate behaviors that have a high potential for painful consequences (sexual indiscretions, buying/spending sprees)

In case of depression the symptoms include:

  • Depressed mood for a distinct period
  • Low energy
  • Lack of concentration
  • Loss in interest in hobbies (anhedonia)
  • Feeling of worthlessness/ guilt
  • Pessimism
  • Lack of appetite
  • Insomnia/ Hypersomnia
  • Suicidal tendencies

Current bipolar treatment includes a combination of medication treatments, cessation of offending culprits such as substance abuse, psychotherapy and psycho-education- learning about the illness, triggers to relapse and setting up structure and routine in one's life.
